Our 2025 Holiday
It has come and gone, our holiday which we take every year.
Every year Deborah, Odie and I take 2 weeks off from our grinding jobs to take a breather, get some fresh air and a little exercise, normally this involves a road trip down to Cape Town to spend some time with my dad, and normally includes a stop in Colesberg to camp a night next to the Orange River as well as a few nights or more at another campsite in the Cape. This year however was a break from the norm and we decided to stay close to home.
For 8 days out of our 2 weeks leave, we went down to Happy Wanderers Caravan Park in Pennington, down the south coast, about 40 minutes’ drive from Durban, where we camped.
Even though we did not get to do the drive to Cape Town, and was not able to visit my dad, we still had a very pleasant, peaceful and relaxing stay at the campsite, which included some fishing, sitting on the beach, walking on the beach and just sitting around the tent, reading or sitting together and enjoying each others company, and it was great. Happy Wanderers campsite has a great atmosphere, and nice facilities and activities.
During our stay there we got enjoy a very tasty lunch at the restaurant that is situated within the resort, and on one of the evenings, they lit a bonfire for all to enjoy.
The break was really good, felt nicely rested, and of course a bit disappointed that it eventually had to end.
So here are a few pics from the holiday. Admittedly did not take many.
Happy Wanderers is a very nice camping holiday resort, worth it if you enjoy being close to the ocean. A very clean location, very good environment, well worth the trip.
After our camping excursion, we got to spend the day with family at Midmar dam, for a day of braaiing and fishing. No fish were caught by Deborah and me. Better luck next time.
